Qin Feng: Writing Without Borders

Qin Feng 秦風

Writing is one of the oldest creative acts in human civilization. From oracle bone inscriptions to digital codes, writing not only records history and conveys ideas, but also shapes the way we understand the world. Yet in an age of globalization and information, the certainty once carried by language is being reexamined. Through decades of continuous practice, Qin Feng detaches writing from its linguistic function, returning it to a deeper realm of cultural memory and spiritual experience.

The exhibition, 'Writing Without Borders' presents not text itself, but the states before the birth of writing and after its disappearance. The brushwork, symbols, and traces in these works evoke ancient steles, fragmented manuscripts, and remnants of civilization. Oscillating between the recognizable and the unreadable, inviting viewers to reconsider the relationship between language, history, and existence. Here, writing no longer belongs to any single culture. Instead, it becomes a spiritual act that transcends time and civilization. These unreadable traces ultimately form a book without borders.
